MVCTC Launches New Student of the Month Initiative to Celebrate Student Achievement

Englewood, OH – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative to recognize outstanding students across various departments each month. This program aims to highlight students who excel in their respective fields, demonstrate leadership, and embody the core values of MVCTC. The first group of honorees for September 2024 has been selected, showcasing exceptional talent and commitment to their studies and future careers.

Health and Consumer Science (HCS)
The HCS department would like to congratulate their September Student of the Month recipients:

  • Laci Jerome (Brookville), a senior in Cosmetology, has not only passed her state board exam, becoming a licensed cosmetologist, but is also working at Broadway in Tipp City on Advanced Placement. Laci has completed an associate’s degree in business from Sinclair Community College.
  • Dayna Zimmerman (Vandalia-Butler), a junior in the Hospitality Services program, has been praised by her instructor, Tammi Newbourn, for her courage, compassion, and willingness to step out of her comfort zone. She is recognized for her patience, kindness, and strong work ethic.

Electives, Business, Information Technology, and Agriculture (EBITA)
The EBITA department proudly recognizes their Students of the Month for September 2024:

  • Aubrey Sawvell (Huber Heights), a senior in the Natural Resources program and treasurer for the MVCTC FFA, has shown exceptional leadership and dedication to the FFA and her studies. Aubrey also worked as an intern technician with Preble County Soil and Water.
  • Travis Armstrong (Twin Valley South), a senior in Retail Agriculture Services, is a student ambassador known for his excellent grades, attendance, and work ethic.
  • Sally White (Preble Shawnee), a senior in Veterinary Science, has demonstrated adaptability and leadership as the FFA Reporter Officer, making significant contributions to the FFA’s communication efforts.

Trades, Industry, and Graphics (TIG)
The TIG department is proud to highlight the achievements of their September 2024 Students of the Month:

  • Troy Hawkins (Miamisburg), a senior in Criminal Justice, has been recognized for his leadership and dedication, consistently assisting his peers while maintaining his own high academic performance.
  • Conner Greer (Valley View), a senior in the Heavy Equipment Operator program, is known for going above and beyond in his work, showing initiative and professionalism.

Academics
The Academics department is honored to present their Students of the Month for September 2024:

  • Jalene Stasher (New Lebanon), a senior in Architectural Design, was nominated by her Spanish instructor, Patricia Weir, for her kindness, work ethic, and excellence in academics. Jalene also serves as an MVCTC Student Ambassador.
  • Jared Shives (Arcanum-Butler), a junior in Welding, was nominated for his dedication to his studies and strong academic performance, showing consistent effort in adjusting to MVCTC’s rigorous programs.

MVCTC Satellite Partner Schools
The following students from MVCTC's satellite programs have been recognized as September 2024 Students of the Month:

  • Emersyn Freisthler (Milton Union-MVCTC FFA), recognized for her leadership as FFA Vice President and her participation in numerous FFA events.
  • Zachary Limbert (Milton Union-MVCTC STEM), known for his preparedness, leadership, and academic curiosity.
  • Kayana Stacey (Milton Union-MVCTC Business Academy), a senior passionate about her education and a state BPA competition participant.
  • Justin Brown (Milton Union-MVCTC Information Technology), recognized for his active participation, leadership, and willingness to help others.
  • Nyiarrha Wilcoxson (Jefferson Township-MVCTC Agriculture), nominated for her outstanding classroom performance and leadership potential.

MVCTC is proud to celebrate these students and their accomplishments. Through initiatives like the Student of the Month program, MVCTC continues to encourage academic and career success while preparing students for the workforce of tomorrow.
