As with almost everything, the holiday season has slowed down the construction process as the construction team members have taken time off to spend with their friends and family. However, despite fewer folks on the jobsite, work has continued to progress according to schedule.
The Multi-Purpose Activity Center (MAC) has experienced the most changes over the last six weeks. All of the kitchen equipment has been moved in and is currently being installed. The terrazzo flooring is in place and now going through the final polishing phase. The floor material on the stage is about 50% installed and should be finished up during the first week of this month. Touch-up painting continues throughout the entire space. Furniture for the MAC is scheduled to arrive in mid-January. Overall, the MAC is predicted to be ready for occupancy by February 1 so that the MVCTC 50th Anniversary Celebration can be held in this space on Sunday, February 6.
The agricultural complex area, located on the south side of campus, is another space that has progressed well over the last month and a half. The new animal facility, hog barn, and dry manure storage are close to being finished. The next steps will be to build a new barn for the heavy equipment program and remodel the current agricultural machinery barn.
Throughout the spine, the contractors continue with fireproofing, masonry walls, stud walls, electrical, HVAC and plumbing lines. The main goal is to enclose as much of the spine as possible so that the construction team can begin to provide low-level heat. This will allow crucial work to be accomplished over the next few months until spring arrives.
