During the months of June and July, the construction team has focused on continuing work throughout the building spine. In the spine, the construction crews are almost finished with all masonry and stud walls, with the exception of a few spaces. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation is continuing throughout the first floor of the spine and on the east side of the second floor. The painters are also working on instructional and offices spaces throughout the first and second floors. The casework and cabinetry in these spaces is being set in place as time allows. In some of the second-floor classrooms, there is already a final coat of paint and flooring installed. For example, heavy duty vinyl tile has been installed in the science labs, carpet is in a handful of classrooms and resinous restroom floors are continuing to be installed on the second floor.
Metal roof panels are being installed on the east side of the spine roof. Clerestory glass has been installed along the entire length of the spine and final caulking is being finished this month. Metal exterior panels and siding installation is ongoing throughout the exterior of the spine.
The remainder of the foundation of the old East Building is being demolished and hauled away. The construction team will continue with sitework around the east side of the campus and hopes to have this concluded in the near future. Paving will start soon around F hallway.
The construction crews are working in and around the existing West Building cosmetology area to isolate the mechanicals and ensure their proper functioning as construction proceeds. This includes top of wall extensions, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, and adding an egress door for safety and general access on the west elevation of the cosmetology space.
Lastly, the agricultural complex area is planned to be finished before the end of August. The new animal barn, swine facility and dry manure storage have all been completed. The sitework and building pad has been completed for the new heavy equipment barn and the existing agricultural storage barn is undergoing modifications, metal panel replacement and a fresh coat of paint will be the last touch.
