Progress on the overall building project has been significant over the past month. The weather has continued to be mild, and there has been minimal precipitation, allowing the contractors to work without delay.
The exterior of the building is in the final phases of being enclosed before winter, and the interior spaces are now heated. The metal accent panels are being installed outside the Culinary Arts area and will be wrapping around to the front of the building later this week. The panels will definitely provide more of a ‘finished’ look. The casework is being installed in Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, and Early Childhood. This includes both the classroom and lab areas. The kitchen equipment is being installed in Culinary Arts and Early Childhood.
Biotechnology, Health Occupations, Medical Lab, Pre-Nursing, Student Services, and Youth Connections/Career Exploration have drywall installed, and most of the spaces have at least the first coat of paint. Office and classroom furniture will be installed in December.
The north parking lot has now been paved with the base coat, and the parking lines will be painted later this week or next. During the summer of 2024, all of the parking lot areas will receive the final ‘top’ coat of asphalt.
The construction team will be busy as we head into December and work to fully maximize the holiday break to clean up loose ends in the currently occupied spaces and keep progressing in the areas still under construction.
