Description

RESPONSIBILITIES: Service Workers perform a wide variety of physical and manual work relating to the construction and maintenance of rights of way and infrastructure.
• Operates dump truck, leaf suction equipment, loader, backhoe, & storm drain cleaner.
• Performs horticultural and grounds maintenance duties; applies chemicals.
• Uses a variety of power and hand tools, including concrete saws and asphalt and concrete finishing tools necessary for highway projects, construction and in-house street repairs.
• Cleans catch basins & ditches; inspects drainage manholes; maintains storm pipe.
• Repairs and replaces asphalt and concrete; installs pavement markings.
• Performs street sign and banner installation.
• Sets-up and removes traffic safety zones for construction.
• Maintains & repairs guard rails, traffic dividers, signs, & similar traffic control devices.
• Performs heavy physical labor including lifting, carrying heavy objects and shoveling, raking and pushing asphalt.
• Maintains buildings, cemeteries, grounds & equipment; removes trash along roadways.
• Operates snow plow and salt truck; reads maps & street signs for leaf & snow removal.
• Works in all weather conditions and in all terrain conditions.


Skills

Minimum qualification requires a high school diploma or equivalent and some mechanical ability, including the ability to operate hand tools. Must have ability to respond during off-duty hours. Preferred qualification requires one (1) year of building or site maintenance and repair experience OR one (1) year of experience with a public works department or in a construction industry. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable under the Township’s vehicle insurance plan. Must obtain a Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of hire.


Days / Hours

Monday-Friday, 7a - 3:30p, plus overtime as required


Pay Range & Benefits

Salary range is $47,925 to $63,066 (effective 4/1/24) and is a non-exempt, union position. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s experience, qualifications, and related skills, knowledge, and ability.
