Dayton Dragons Visit MVCTC Sports Management and Marketing Program

01/17/2017

Englewood, Ohio -- The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) welcomed Trafton Eutsler, the Director of Season Ticket Sales from the Dayton Dragons into the Sports Management and Marketing lab on December 8th, 2016. Trafton gave a very informative presentation on the Dayton Dragons, their influence on the city of Dayton, and how to gain a job in the sports industry. He provided valuable information and made himself available to any student interested in a job shadowing experience.  Junior Sports Management and Marketing Student, Sean Hodges (Eaton High School) stated, “Trafton demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm for his position with the Dayton Dragons and motivated me to pursue a career in the sports industry.”

The Sports Management and Marketing lab also recently partnered with the Vandalia Rec Center.  On Tuesday, November 22nd, the students visited the Rec Center to gain knowledge of what they do on a regular basis. Students recently decided on a department that sparked and interest, with the ultimate goal of solving a problem for that specific department.  Departments included parks and recreation, athletic supervision, fitness supervision, programming and child care, aquatics, facility rental and birthday party coordination, and facilities.  MVCTC Sports Management and Marketing Students are looking forward to continuing to collaborate and work to help solve real-world problems in partnership with the Vandalia Rec Center in the future.   Program Instructor Zach Gueth stated," Working with the Vandalia Recreation Center is going to be a great experience for the Senior Sports Management and Marketing Lab, and I am excited to see what creative ideas the students develop."

The MVCTC Sports Management and Marketing program ties in sports with the business realm.  As we find our way into the second semester, students will be working on upcoming BPA projects, Vandalia Rec Center projects, junior Sinclair classes, as well as other projects and notes along the way. Seniors will have the opportunity to advance place. In the lab, students obtain the basic skills in Photoshop, Adobe Premier, and GoPro Studio. Sports careers are growing and we’re excited to be a part of it.
