Englewood, Ohio -- Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) 2016 Precision Machining completer Colten Branham reflects on his two years in the Precision Machining program and says, “MVCTC changed my life.”
“MVCTC helped me achieve success in many ways. I walked in sophomore year to Mike Deeter's Precision Machining class hearing all the success stories of past graduates and all the amazing careers that were associated with manufacturing wondering how I could get in this program to become one of those success stories. So, I applied and got in,” says Branham.
Branham goes on to share, “I went to MVCTC looking to come out on top and ready to hit the ground running with a career straight out of high school. Looking for a head start in this fast-paced world, that is just what I did. MVCTC surrounded me with the tools and resources to achieve nothing short of success. Everything from resume building classes to personal finance classes to machining and blueprint reading. I hit the books and made SURE I achieved the best grades possible to secure myself a position senior year in the 2-week work/school apprenticeship program that was only available to the higher achieving kids who really wanted it. I kept knocking at the door of my employer making SURE I would get my foot in the door to be able to prove my skills and knowledge that I had gained from MVCTC. I did just that. Nearing the end of senior year, I didn't have to think twice about looking for a job. The Dupps Company, where I was an apprentice, made me a job offer I couldn't refuse, fulfilling my dreams. My employer also is covering 100% of my tuition and books to any college of my choice, one of the MANY life changing perks I have received from MVCTC. Accepting a career in the machining field with an employer like The Dupps Company offers endless rewarding possibilities with a $45k+/year career right out of high school along with immediate vacation/benefits that one wouldn't imagine is possible for an 18-year-old.”
