First MVCTC BPA Meeting of the 2018-2019 School Year

Englewood, Ohio - The Miami Valley Career Technology Center held its first Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter meeting on August 31, 2018. The meeting included the appearance of Marty Grunder, entrepreneur and CEO of Grunder Landscaping.

The new BPA chapter officers for the 2018-2019 school year are:

  • President – Jacob Roesle (Tri-county North) Computer Network Engineering
  • Vice President – Alex Gerard (Vandalia Butler) Media and Video Production
  • Secretary –  Lillian Pietrzak (New Lebanon) Medical Office Management
  • Treasurer – Maegann Hackworth (Arcanum) Medical Office Management
  • Public Relations –  Alana Oakes (Tipp City) Media and Video Production
  • Parliamentarian – Trinity Layman (Arcanum) Medical Office Management
  • Historian – Jonathan Coleman (Wayne) Sports Management and Marketing

 

This BPA meeting was highlighted by the induction of MVCTC’s new juniors, the introduction of the 2018-2019 school year BPA Officers, and guest speaker Marty Grunder. Marty was an excellent speaker, bestowing his knowledge on entrepreneurship, business, ambition, and his 9 steps to entrepreneurial success.

We really can’t thank Marty enough for his time and his insight. He has definitely left an impact on the minds of our BPA students.

The BPA chapter’s plans for the coming year include the upcoming Region 3 Fall Leadership Conference, taking place October 2, 2018, at Greenville High School. The upcoming meeting is being organized by the BPA Regional Officers. In addition, the BPA chapter is looking forward to celebrating the 11th anniversary of MVCTC’s annual BIT BPA Bootcamp, where each program in the Business and Information Technology Department go head to head in a rigorous and exciting obstacle course. Lastly, the BPA Chapter will be preparing for future meetings and competitions, aiming for many students to make it to the National Competition this year in Anaheim, California

Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

BPA has 43,000 members in over 2,300 chapters in 23 states. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.
