Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Adult Education nursing program scheduled a Professional Development Day on November 8, 2018, for all of the current nursing students. The day is an opportunity for students to hear from professionals in the healthcare field as well as speak to potential employers, colleges, and network with other healthcare professionals.
The morning includes guest speakers from Life Connections and Brigid’s Path. They will share their missions and the importance of healthcare professionals in making patients comfortable.
Students will next have the opportunity to visit the vendor area set-up in classrooms in the MVCTC Adult Education Building. Vendors at the event include healthcare providers, potential employers, and college nursing programs. Organizations scheduled to participate include Brethren Retirement Community, Dayton Metro Library, United Church Homes, Foundations, Elsevier, Friendship Village, Bethany, Grace Brethren Village, Stillwater Center, Trilogy Health Services, Kettering College, Sinclair, Hondros, Clark State, Wright State, Galen, Chamberlain College, and Ivy Tech.
Other speakers during the day include Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, and a panel of healthcare workers: Linda Kirk, Tonya Bowerman, Robb Morrison, Chassity Collins, and Rachel Hartwig. The panel will field questions from the MVCTC LPN students about the profession and what to expect when they are looking for jobs.
MVCTC Adult Ed instructor, Kelly Maxwell, planned the event. She shared, “This event gives our students a chance to network with nursing professionals, area RN programs, and vendors in a conference-type atmosphere as they prepare to make the transition from student to practicing professional."
