Four MVCTC students were honored: Tajah Drake (Cosmetology/Northmont), Chaz Foster (Auto Collision/Trotwood), Craig Fryman (Graphic Commerical Photography/Brookville), and Nathan Martin (Aviation Maintenance/Trotwood). Additionally, Craig Fryman’s photography was displayed.
The Sinclair website explains, “The Young Scholars began in 1991 as a Saturday morning academic readiness program for under-represented, first-generation students in Montgomery County, Ohio. Twenty-seven years later, the program has evolved into a college and career readiness program and continues to target those students with the greatest need.”
Young Scholars currently meet throughout the academic year on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 p.m. In addition, students are given the opportunity to participate in various community and cultural events. Students are also required to meet for Advisory sessions twice a year with Young Scholars Staff. Applicants are First Generation College students (parent or guardian has NOT earned a higher level degree) who reside in Montgomery County and complete their eighth-grade year with a 2.5 or higher.
MVCTC Student Services Supervisor, Mr. Brian Jettinghoff shared, “This is a tremendous program geared toward student success.”
We are dedicated to providing premier educational choices and advanced employment preparation for youth, adults, and organizations of the Miami Valley.
MVCTC high school classes will be closed for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, due to the cold weather. Please stay safe.
