MVCTC will be on the November 3rd ballot with a Renewal Levy for 2.18 Mils. The last time this specific levy was on the ballot was November 2011. This revenue provides approximately 45% of the revenue that is required for normal daily operations. The other 55% of our operating funding primarily comes directly from the State of Ohio. This is a renewal of the levy from 2011, there will be zero tax increase.
Ballot Details - Property Tax - Renewal - 2.18 mills - 10 Years - Current operating expenses and improvement to school buildings and sites, including equipment and furnishings. The levy costs the homeowner $6.36 per month for $100,000 of property valuation. This homeowner cost does not include property tax reduction programs available through the Ohio Department of Taxation, such as the homestead exemption or 10% rollback program.
If this tax levy is not renewed in the ten-year cycle, it will no longer provide revenue to operate MVCTC’s career-technical programs that serve students from 27 different school districts located across five counties (Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren).
This levy funds MVCTC’s educational operations: the teachers, textbooks, technology, and core programs. It is needed for MVCTC to:
- Have teachers and equipment to prepare students for good jobs in healthcare, public safety, hospitality, information technology, and skilled trades.
- Keep 40 career technical programs that prepare high school students from 27 school districts for jobs and college.
- Keep and operate the 30 career technical satellite programs at 19 locations throughout the Miami Valley, which serves over 3,600 students each year.
- Keep adult education programs that prepare adults for healthcare and skilled trades jobs, train people for new, in-demand jobs, and help adults earn their high school diploma and industry certifications.
- Provide quality training for businesses in our area to compete effectively. Helping retain and add jobs here.
Every year, the MVCTC impacts approximately 5,500 high school and 4,000 adult students, across the Miami Valley region, which includes your family, friends, and neighbors. Renewal of the levy will allow MVCTC to continue to offer world-class career-technical programming to our entire region.
