The Class of 2021 MVCTC Scholarship Winners were recently announced.
Criteria for MVCTC Scholarships are as follows:
Employees Association Scholarship - The Employees Association of MVCTC presents this $500 award. The students chosen to receive this award are evaluated based on academic accomplishments, career goals, school/community activities, instructor recommendations, and financial need. Class of 2021 recipients:
- Logan Cottle (Automotive Technology/Eaton). He plans on continuing his education at IUPUI with Motorsport & Mechanical Engineering dual majors.
- Emma-Lynn Nulph (Veterinary Science/New Lebanon).
MVCTC Foundation Scholarships - Each department at MVCTC awards a $500 scholarship to the most qualified student. Supervisors make the selection based upon a written application.
Class of 2021 recipients:
- Agriculture – Sydney Cole (Natural Resource Management/Miamisburg)
- Business & Information Technology – Benjamin Bitner (Business Ownership/Twin Valley South). Ben is attending The University of Dayton, majoring in International Studies with the hope of working as a diplomat with the US State Department in the future.
- Health & Consumer Sciences – Bethany Weldy (Pre-Nursing/Covington). She plans to attend Sinclair Community College's Nursing Program to receive a Registered Nurse (RN) License and Associate Degree of Nursing. Then attend The Ohio State University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She aspires to become a Nurse Anesthetist attending Case Western Reserve University's Graduate School to receive her doctorate.
- Language Arts & Social Studies – Phoebe Jacobs (Veterinary Science/Tippecanoe)
- Math & Science – Brogan Waugh (Computer Networking & Cyber Security/Carlisle). He plans to attend Sinclair Community College, majoring in CIS-Secure Systems Administration.
- Trade & Industry – East Building - Logan Cottle (Auto Technology/Eaton)
- Trade & Industry – South Building - Drew Metzger (Criminal Justice/Northmont). He will either be attending Sinclair Community College or Eastern Kentucky University to major in Criminal Justice.
MVCTC Superintendent Scholarship - The $1,000 Superintendent Scholarship is awarded to one outstanding senior. The Class of 2021 recipient is Colleen Rotterman (Pre-Nursing/Northmont). She is going to Bowling Green State University for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship - The Treva and Robert Sidle $2,000 Scholarship is awarded to a senior from each of our five career clusters who has shown exemplary academic and career technical talent at MVCTC. The scholarship honors Treva Sidle, who taught at Phillipsburg and Dayton until her retirement in 1978. She then touched the lives of JVS/MVCTC students for the next 20 years as a beloved substitute teacher. She passed away in August 2006. MVCTC is honored that our students and staff were recipients of Treva Sidle's wonderful talents. Her dedication to education will long be remembered and serve as an inspiration to everyone.
The Class of 2021 recipients are:
- Logan Cottle (Auto Technology/Eaton).
- Jayla Denlinger (Veterinary Science/Twin Valley South). She plans to attend Indiana University East and pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Destiny Harvey (Graphic Commercial Art/Preble Shawnee). She will be attending The Modern College of Design.
- Paige Phillips (Graphic Commercial Art/Northwestern). She will be attending The Modern College of Design to pursue an Associates and Bachelors Degree while also doing freelance work on the side.
- Bethany Weldy (Pre-Nursing/Covington)
Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Class of 2021 Senior Recognition Ceremony will be held in two ceremonies on May 16, 2021, at the Wright State Nutter Center. Additional scholarships and the total amount earned in scholarship money by the Class of 2021 will be announced at the Senior Recognition Ceremony.
