Natural Resource Management Class Participates in Forestry Contest

Englewood, Ohio- On September 30, 2023, MVCTC Natural Resource program students competed in the FFA Forestry Career Development Event (CDE).
The purpose of the Forestry CDE is to provide recognition for those students who have demonstrated skills and competencies as a result of forestry instruction.
The Forestry CDE rules include:
- A team will consist of the top 4 scores, and all four scores will count as the team score of record.
- Under no circumstances will any contestants be allowed to touch or handle plant material during the contest. Any infraction of this rule will be a disqualification of the contestant.
- Observers will not be permitted in the CDE area while the event is in progress.
- No CDE team, team member, or team coach shall visit the CDE facilities to observe plant materials or facilities a week prior to the CDE. Any team, team member, or team coach reported and proven to do so will be disqualified from competing in the state CDE.
- Any contestant caught cheating during the CDE will be disqualified from the event.
- Contestants must come prepared to work in adverse weather conditions. The CDE will be conducted regardless of the weather conditions. Contestants should have heavy coats, other warm clothes, and appropriate footwear.
The individuals who competed and placed in the Forestry CDE are as follows:

- Garrett Fetgatter (Bethel) placed 45th
- Griffen Jung (Miamisburg) placed 71st
- Elizabeth Pappas (West Carrollton) placed 77th
- Logan Tinney (Miamisburg) placed 92nd
- Devin Craport (Arcanum-Butler) placed 102nd
- Eric Johnson (Ansonia) placed 165th
- Eren Willeng (Northmont) placed 188th
- Autumn Tedore (Vandalia-Butler) placed 215th
Overall, they placed 9th out of 37 teams and 247 individuals.
