The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) 43rd annual FFA Charity Auction was a great success. This long-standing tradition of giving back to the community and supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Miami Valley Region is organized by the dedicated MVCTC FFA chapter. The auction showcases the commitment and hard work of FFA members, MVCTC staff, retirees, and loyal alumni who return year after year to contribute to this meaningful cause.
Initiated in 1980 by retired MVCTC Ag Educator Waid Lyons, the charity auction has grown from humble beginnings as a hat auction, raising $250. This year alone, the FFA Chapter successfully raised over $11,000.
The auction's proceeds directly benefit the local Ronald McDonald House on Valley Street in Dayton, Ohio. This facility provides a comforting home away from home for families of hospitalized children. Open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and 365 days a year, RMHC enables families to rest, gather strength, and better support the healing of their children.
"We are immensely proud of the MVCTC FFA chapter, staff, and alumni for their commitment to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, thus positively impacting our communities," said MVCTC Superintendent Dr. Nick Weldy.
The MVCTC is a leading educational institution that provides premier educational choices and advanced employment preparation for youth, adults, and organizations. MVCTC has proudly served the Miami Valley since 1971 and offers a wide range of programs that prepare students for successful careers in various fields.
According to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton (RMHC Dayton) website, "RMHC Dayton staff members and Board of Trustees are dedicated to providing comfort, care, and support to children and families in the Miami Valley Region and beyond. RMHC Dayton was established in 1980. We officially opened the doors of our first Ronald McDonald House (RMH) at 741 Valley Street on February 1 of that year, making us the 14th RMHC House built in the United States. The first Dayton RMH featured seven bedrooms and 3.5 shared bathrooms." Learn more at rmhcdayton.org/our-history/.
