Members from Arcanum MVCTC FFA competed in the state finals for the Ohio FFA Ag Technology and Mechanical Systems Contest and placed 5th. Team members were Ayden Hess, Charlie Weiss, Noah Egnor, and Jackson Weaver. The members earned the right to compete in the finals by placing in the top 10 on the online test in October. The online test included general knowledge and problem-solving questions on machinery, electricity, structures, equipment, and environmental and natural resources. During the State Finals Contest, held at The Ohio State University ATI in Wooster, members completed individual and team activities, which included electrical wiring, stick welding, equipment troubleshooting, differential leveling, yield calculations, and the construction of a small greenhouse. The ATMS contest uses many real-world skills on a time rotation; team member Ayden Hess said, "We were able to practice at school, but the time limit puts the pressure on during the contest." For placing 5th, the team will receive a banner at the State FFA Convention in May. Ayden Hess and Charlie Weiss will also receive plaques for placing 3rd and 4th as individuals in the contest.

Arcanum MVCTC FFA members recently competed in the District 5 Food Science Contest hosted at New Knoxville High School. The team members were asked to complete a product development scenario during the contest. They calculated the nutritional facts for a new food product and designed a new package. Also, they completed an aroma identification section, responded to customer inquiry scenarios, identified sanitation errors in the food industry and standard equipment used in a food production facility, and completed a taste sensory test and flavor identification.

The Arcanum MVCTC FFA members recently tested their job interview skills at the District 5 Job Interview contest at Botkins High School. The Job Interview contest is one of the most practical contests available because almost everyone will be in an interview at some point in their lives. The students competing in this contest prepare a resume and cover letter before the contest, complete a job application, an in-person interview, and a follow-up letter. Every component of this contest is modeled after what an actual interview would entail and prepares students for life after high school.
