The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) was well-represented at the recent Ohio Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) conference, where our staff didn't just attend – they also took center stage as presenters!
Our talented teachers showcased their expertise and shared innovative approaches to education with their peers from across the state. Breanna McKinley, an English teacher, discussed how to guide students to become more career-focused in basic classes like English, and adapted English Common Core State Standards to highlight career-oriented skills.
Melissa Goodall, a computer coding and web application teacher, wowed the audience with her presentation on harnessing artificial intelligence to create dynamic lesson materials, differentiate instructional plans, and revolutionize assessments.
Corrie Lievsay, a science teacher, and Paula Wathen, a medical laboratory assisting teacher, demonstrated the benefits of an integrated curriculum in preparing students for post-secondary education and advanced career training.
Ron Kauffman, Heavy Equipment Operation teacher, led a session on NCCER, highlighting textbook updates, improved career and technical education features like NCCERconnect online learning and NCCER credentials. He also introduced the new Career Starter Program, which connects entry-level job seekers with local training programs and employers – a valuable resource for our students.
We're thrilled to congratulate these teachers on their outstanding presentations and for representing MVCTC so well. Their passion for innovative education is contagious, and we're grateful to have them on our team!
