Seniors from the Miami Valley Career Technology Center's (MVCTC) Digital Design program were captivated by a unique learning experience on September 12, 2024, at the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Dayton “Lunch and Learn” event held at Sinclair College. Brett Langolf, founder of the award-winning agency CXG (Content EXP Group), delivered a keynote presentation titled “Unlocking Consumer Connection: Selling Through Storytelling.”
Brett Langolf’s company, CXG, is renowned for its cinematic promotions and has earned the prestigious AAF Addy Gold Award for Film, Video & Sound. His session focused on digital cinema and storytelling to create deeper, more meaningful connections between brands and consumers. Langolf shared personal anecdotes and real-world examples to explain how CXG transforms seemingly mundane products into attractive offerings through the art of storytelling.
The MVCTC students, accompanied by Digital Design Instructor Donita Massing and Guidance Counselor Jon Baumhauer, were inspired by Langolf’s message. Mrs. Massing, whose proposal “Elevating Student Success in Visual Storytelling” was a 2024 finalist for the Voya Unsung Heroes classroom grant, expressed her enthusiasm. The grant will provide her program with new funding to enhance digital cinema equipment, allowing students to apply Langolf’s principles in their upcoming video promotion projects.
"Brett’s presentation spoke directly to the storytelling and filmmaking my students are exploring this quarter," said Mrs. Massing. "His insights exceeded my expectations and inspired me to push new boundaries in teaching promotional video content. I am excited to see how these concepts will elevate the students' upcoming projects."
The event, organized by AAF Dayton President Michael Kurtz and Executive Director Sara McCatherine, created a welcoming environment for students to network with professionals in the advertising industry.
