MVCTC HOSA and FCCLA Chapters Host "No One Fights Alone Walk" Rescheduled for October 4, 2024

09/20/2024

The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) is excited to announce the return of the annual No One Fights Alone Walk, scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2024. This event is a collaborative effort between the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) to raise awareness and support for two critical organizations: the Artemis Domestic Violence Center and the Dayton Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The No One Fights Alone Walk offers MVCTC students a unique opportunity to come together and positively impact the lives of those who need it most. This year, students will raise funds for the Dayton Children’s Hospital Foundation, whose mission is "helping sick kids get better," while collecting essential items for the Artemis Center, an organization committed to empowering survivors to heal and live free from domestic violence.

Event Details:

  • Date: Friday, October 4
  • Junior Walk: 8:50 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • Senior Walk: 12:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Location: The walk will begin and end outside the MAC (south) entrance doors at MVCTC.

How to Participate: To participate in the walk, each student is required to donate at least $1 to the Dayton Children’s Hospital Foundation and bring an item from the list of needs for the Artemis Center, which includes:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Boxed meals
  • Snacks
  • Can openers
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Packaged women’s and children’s underwear

Donations will be collected by program instructors and brought to the Founders Conference Room at the beginning of the walk. Students will walk with their classes, and ten interactive stations will be set up along the route, each offering engaging activities. Some of the featured stations include:

  • Petting Goats – hosted by FFA
  • Corn Hole Toss – hosted by SkillsUSA
  • Blood Cancer Awareness – presented by HOSA
  • Face Painting – hosted by SkillsUSA
  • Cup Stacking Race – hosted by SkillsUSA

Additionally, students will have the chance to learn more about the National Marrow Donor Program, the Dayton Children’s Hospital Foundation, and the mission of the Artemis Center. Programs will also participate in activities like hula hoop relays, and an interactive session on identifying healthy and unhealthy relationships, presented by the Artemis Center.

Let's Knock-Out the Needs of Others! This year’s walk serves as a reminder of the powerful difference students can make in their community. By working together, we can support families and individuals facing difficult times. Students are encouraged to bring a filled water bottle, adhere to the MVCTC dress code, and remain on the designated walk route.

Staff members are also welcome to contribute donations. For any questions, please contact Paula Wathen at 937-857-6793.

Together, let’s make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need!
