The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) is dedicated to providing exceptional opportunities for students to explore their future career paths. One of the highlights of our outreach efforts is the 8th Grade Tours, where students from partner school districts are invited to our campus for an immersive experience. These tours are designed to help students envision their high school years and beyond as they begin to make informed decisions about their futures.
During their visit to MVCTC, 8th-grade students engage in various activities that spark their interest in career-technical education. Here’s what they can look forward to:
Hands-On Activities: In the Career Exploration Lab, students explore various career pathways through interactive simulations, which give them a taste of what to expect in high school programs.
Campus Tour: Students tour the MVCTC campus, where they interact with career and technical education (CTE) staff and current students and gain insights into the programs offered.
Lunch in the MAC: Students enjoy a meal in the Multi-Activity Center (MAC) with their teachers and chaperones.
These tours are made possible through the dedication of our amazing District Ambassadors, who facilitate the visits and ensure a welcoming environment for all participants.
We welcomed 817 students and 90 chaperones from partner schools in October alone.
In addition to the 8th Grade Tours, MVCTC also reaches out to younger students to ignite their interest in future careers:
Valley View Elementary Career Fair: On October 4, MVCTC Student Ambassadors showcased career options to students in grades K-6, engaging them through interactive demonstrations led by industry professionals.
Broadway Elementary School: On October 8, MVCTC students interacted with over 125 kindergarteners to explore their 5 Senses through engaging activities, linking each sense to relevant careers in fields such as Culinary Arts and Graphic Commercial Art.
LT Ball Intermediate School Career Day: On October 18, our Student Ambassadors participated in a career day for grades 3-5, providing hands-on demonstrations in areas like Robotics, Natural Resource Management, and Medical Lab Assisting.
Northwood Elementary Career Fair: On October 25, Cosmetology student Brooke Fitzwater inspired grades 2-6 by sharing her career journey and providing hands-on activities that showcased the diverse opportunities available through MVCTC.
The MVCTC Career Exploration initiative continues expanding, fostering partnerships with local schools and encouraging students to consider their future career paths. We are excited to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators through these valuable experiences!
