Eaton FFA Members State FFA Degrees

In May the Eaton FFA Chapter celebrated the success of two members. Garrett Eiler and Katie Orr, each received their State FFA Degree’s, the highest award given by the Ohio FFA Association.    In order to earn and receive this prestigious award members must have gross earnings of over $3000.00 or worked over 1000 hours of job placement as their supervised agriculture experience (SAE).  Recipients may also complete a combination of job placement and entrepreneurship. Students must have been active members for 24 consecutive months, demonstrate 10 parliamentary procedure abilities, give a six minute speech on an agriculture topic, and have good academic and attendance records.  Garrett’s SAE projects included working over 2,500 hours on Eiler Farms, doing entrepreneurship SAE’s of raising soybeans, corn, market lambs and steers. Garrett has participated in soil judging, livestock judging, tractor trouble shooting, fruit sales, and chairmen of the healthy lifestyles committee, attends State FFA Convention, and serves as chapter president.  Katie’s SAE included market swine, and grain production.  Katie has been very active in the chapter.  She has been a member of the parliamentary procedure team, soil judging, the dairy foods team, the exercise committee, sold fruit and strawberries, played FFA basketball, attended state & national conventions, and serves as chapter secretary.  Katie also earned and received the prestigious state gold secretary’s award at the State FFA Convention.  The Eaton Agricultural Education Department and FFA Chapter are satellite programs of the Miami Valley Career and Technology Center.
