On Sunday, October 9th FFA members from Milton-Union and Covington participated in the West Milton CROP Hunger Walk. FFA Members and their guests walked a total of three miles through the West Milton Community.
The students collectively gathered over $200 in donations. Money is raised by participants requesting donations. Of the funds raised, 25 percent stay in Union Township. The rest is used by Church World Service (CWS) as it responds to disasters and to situations of chronic need in the U.S. and throughout the world.
The CROP walk is a demonstration of "Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty."
According to the CROP website, "CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by religious groups, businesses, schools and others to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world." Thanks to the dedication of many Milton-Union and Covington FFA members and the wonderful partnership with CWS/CROP, we are able to begin to end hunger one step at a time.
