This past June, the Valley View-MVCTC FFA Chapter lost one of its most outstanding members it’s ever known. Levi Montoya died tragically in an ATV accident on his family’s farm. Levi was elected to chapter sentinel last spring. One of the main reasons he was slated for this position was because of his positive personality, sense of humor, great smile, and ability to befriend everyone.
Early on, Levi set goals for his FFA involvement. He wanted to participate in as many Career Development Events as possible. He eagerly took charge planning and starting his Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) to ensure he could earn his State FFA Degree. He attended both state and national FFA conventions. He had plans to attend FFA camp. He pushed members to get involved and he encouraged his FFA advisor to try new activities.
Levi’s legacy continues through the efforts of the Live Like Levi Charitable Trust Fund and through the daily actions of Valley View-MVCTC FFA members. This year four FFA members were awarded a tailored FFA jacket sponsored by Todd and Diana Proctor (friends of the Montoya family) and the Live Like Levi Charitable Trust Fund. ‘Live Like Levi’ will be embroidered inside the jacket of each recipient. Recipients included Brynn Kozarec, Jordan Johnson, Kathleen Monnig, and Mercedes Woodson.
