Valley View-MVCTC FFA Participates in Food Science and Technology Contest
On November 12, 2014, members of the Valley View-MVCTC FFA Chapter participated in the FFA District 5 Food Science and Technology Career Development Event (CDE) at Twin Valley South High School.
The Valley View-MVCTC FFA Chapter placed 13th out of 40 teams. Participating members included Christopher Boyle, Abigail Collins, Bailey DeGroat, Jordan Johnson, Brynn Kozarec, Zane Kozarec, and Kathleen Monnig. The highest placing individual from Valley View was Zane Kozarec, who placed 17th among 152 FFA members.
Prior to the contest, team members completed an online objective test. During the contest, members completed a product development scenario in which they calculated the nutritional facts for a new food product and designed a new package for that product. Members identified common food aromas and completed a triangle taste test. In addition, responded to a mock customer complaint letter and identified sanitation problems.
