“The Tri-Village MVCTC FFA held its annual banquet on Sunday March 22nd, 2015. The banquet celebrated the accomplishments that the FFA members accumulated over the past year.
To begin the ceremony Josh Wiford, Sentinel, introduced and thanked all of the guest of the Tri-Village MVCTC FFA. Included in the list of guest were teachers, staff members, board members, and administration from Tri-Village and MVCTC. Members were recognized for there participation in various chapter activities and new levels of degree membership attained.
The first sets of awards were given to members who participated in Career Development Events (CDE) this past year. The Farm Business Management Team Members were Alisha Hollinger, Trent Laux, Keith Hunt, Riley Hollinger, Gabe Watern, Josh Wiford, Wesley Murphy and Zack Holsapple. Participants in the soil judging contest were Grant Flory, Kina Hill, Alisha Hollinger, Zack Holsapple, Keith Hunt, Trent Laux, Tyler Martin, Wesley Murphy, Elizabeth O’Connor Courtney Banis, Ethan Deneski, Kyla Hayslett, Mykenzie Neanen, and Alexis Nelson. The Job Interview Contestants were Jenna Cline, Wesley Murphy, Kara Hollinger, Riley Hollinger, and Grant Flory. Both the Advanced and Greenhand Parliamentary Procedure Teams received gold ratings at the county contest. The advanced team consisted of Trent Laux, Gabe Watern, Riley Hollinger, Wesley Murphy, Alisha Hollinger, Josh Wiford, Keith Hunt and Grant Flory. Greenhand Team consisted of Ian Bailey, Jakob Frech Thadd Carden, Jazmine Hileman, Tanner Jones, Kailei Shepherd, Kara Hollinger, Brittany Brewer, Josh Hollinger, Cohen Nelson, Mia Middleton, Autaum Moore, Kaitlyn Howard, Shelby Frech, Rachel Watern, and Ashley Rutherford. The public speaker for Tri-Village were Riley Hollinger in Extemporaneous and Kara Hollinger in Creed and Rachel Watern in Advanced Creed. The Tractor Troube shooting team won the county contest and place high at districts, the team members were Trent Laux and Josh Hollinger. The final CDE’s recognized were the Spring Judging Teams: General Livestock Judging –Tyler Martin, Nathan Thobe, Kara Hollinger, and Garrett George. Wildlife Management – Gabe Watern, Wyatt Sleppy, Chris Hurd, and Josh Wiford. Dairy Judging – Thadd Carden, Jakob Frech and Cohen Nelson.
Special Awards were also given to members that excelled throughout the past year. Top fruit sales persons award were presented to Brittany Brewer – 3rd, Jared Godown - 2nd, Trent Laux- 1st. The Top Fruit Sale Awards were sponsored by Wilber-Ellis. The Tri-Village MVCTC FFA Senior Members were honored with a certificate and slideshow highlighting their 4 years of dedication to the chapter. The 2015 Seniors are Zach Clark, Jenna Cline, Alisha Hollinger, Trent Laux, Mykenzie Neanen, Alexis Nelson, Ashley Rowe, Jordan Thomas and Gabe Watern. The Senior Officer were also recognized for their service with plaques sponsored by Crop Production Services of Greenville and Rolling M Auctions. Officers were President –Trent Laux, Vice-President – Gabe Watern and Reporter – Alisha Hollinger.

Proficiency Awards are given to those members that excel in hours worked and competencies gain in there SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience). This year the Tri-Village MVCTC FFA had six members apply for those awards. Dylen Price applied in the area of Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance for his work at IZIT and Koenig Equipment. Dylen was 2nd in the District with his award application. Trent Laux applied in the area of Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance for his work at Jasen Laux Trucking. Trent was 1st in the District with his award application and is top 4 in the state and will interview at State Convention. Cline Farms sponsored the Ag Mechanics and Repair & Maintenance Awards.
The next set of proficiency awards is sponsored by Martin Farms. Keith Hunt applied in the area of Ag Processing for his work at Carl Hunt Custom Butchering. Keith’s award placed in the 1st in the district. Trent Laux applied in the area of Diversified Crop Production Placement for his work at Laux Farms. Trent was top 2 in the District with his award application and is top 4 in the state and will interview at State Convention. Grant Flory applied in the area of Equine Science for his work at Triple F Farms. Grant was top 3 in the District with his award application.
The next set of proficiency awards is sponsored by Kevin Flory Landscaping. Trent Laux applied in the area of Fiber and Oil Crop Production Placement for his work at Laux Farms.
Wesley Murphy applied in the area of Goat Production for the livestock he has raised and showed for Arctic Club Goat. Wesley’s award placed in the top 3 in the district. Gabe Watern applied in the area of Outdoor Recreation for his work at Woodland Trails Boy Scout Camp. Gabe was 1st in the District with his award application and is top 4 in the state and will interview at State Convention.
The members in each grade were presented with the Outstanding Member Awards. Chapter Advisor Mr. Brian Pohlman talked about each member’s involvement and then presented him or her with a plaque sponsored by Hollinger Excavating Inc. commemorating his or her hard work. They were: Freshman-Kara Hollinger, Sophomore-Grant Flory, Junior-Riley Hollinger, and Senior-Alisha Hollinger. The highest award for a first year member is the Star Greenhand, sponsored by Martin Farms, this year’s winners were Josh Hollinger and Rachel Watern. The Star Chapter Farmer award, sponsored by Martin Farms, is given to the member that has excelled in a SAE that is related directly to the Farm, this year’s recipient was Wesley Murphy. The Star Chapter Ag Placement award, sponsored by Kevin Flory Landscaping, is given to the member that works in a placement ag area, this year’s recipient was Gabe Watern. The Star Chapter Ag Business Award, sponsored by Martin Farms, is given to the member that works in an ag related business, this year’s winner was Keith Hunt. The top award for the evening was the Agricultural Accomplishment Award sponsored by Laux Seed Solutions LLC Represeative of DuPont Pioneer, it recognizes not only one’s personal success in the FFA but also recognizes what they have done to assist younger members, this year’s recipient was Trent Laux. The final award of the night was the Honorary Chapter Degree. This honor is bestowed on members of the school or community for their contributions to the success of the chapter. This year’s Honorary Chapter Degree was presented to Mr. Lee Morris, Principal of Tri-Village Local Schools.
The ceremony was concluded with the Inductions of the 2015-2016 Tri-Village MVCTC Officer Team. President Riley Hollinger, Vice-President Wesley Murphy, Secretary Kina Hill, Treasurer Tyler Martin, Reporter Kara Hollinger, Sentinel Josh Wiford, Chaplain Grant Flory, and Parliamentarian Ethan Deneski.
